1st Target Date is gone!
We've passed the February 8th Target Date, which means that most of you should be finished with assignments 1-6. Some of you already finished the course, which is fantastic and my congratulations go to all of you.
If you haven't started then you still have plenty of time. The Target Dates are there to guide you as you complete the assignments. You won't be in trouble if you miss one (or all of 'em!), but use them as the targets that they are to give you an indication of where you should be in the course.
Hope all is well with all of you and, should you have any questions about the course by all means let me or whoever is at the reference desk know.
Cheers,
Memo

Slight Text Changes to UNIV 106
I've had to do some slight changes to both chapter texts and assignments for UNIV 106 to reflect our new website redesign. If you already printed all your assignments please note the following changes:
You should be asking questions anyhow ;-)
Memo
- Most chapters: Instances of the sentence "Find Articles" have been changed to "Articles, Databases"
- Most chapters: Instances of "Find Books and Media" have been changed to "Books, e-Books, Media"
- Assignment 4, question 2: changed "Quick Limits" to "Set Limits"
You should be asking questions anyhow ;-)

Permission numbers: I have 'em!
It's too late to register for UNIV 106 (Library Skills) unless you get a permission number from the instructor. Some of you already registered this way but if you know someone who wants to take UNIV 106 just have them contact me and I'll gladly give them a permission number.
I have several more burning a hole in my BroncoWeb account, but be quick about it as the last day to register with a permission number is Monday, February 4th.

Never mind the last post! The missing book (MEDIEVAL FRANCE: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA) has been found! Go ahead and answer question 5 for assignment 3 as usual.

MEDIEVAL FRANCE: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA--MISSING!
Please note: assignment 3, question 5 requires you to answer a question using the reference book MEDIEVAL FRANCE: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA (ref DC33.2 .M44 1995), but the book is, for the moment, missing.
What do do? Don't panic! For now, please leave assignment 3, question 5 blank--but have a reference librarian sign or note it on your assignment until you are notified otherwise.
Let me know if you have any questions, eh?

Welcome to the Library & UNIV 106!
Albertsons Library welcomes you to another exciting (yeah, I mean it) school semester in 2008! There are lots of changes happening in the Library and its website. We have a new look, have increased our database list to over 230+ research databases and indexes, and made it easier to find content with our new
button. We're gearing up for regular semester hours, but the Library will be closed on Monday, January 21st, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/Idaho Human Rights Day. Regular hours will go into effect on Tuesday, January 22, when classes begin. Please check out the Library's Hours page for a complete list of regular and holiday hours.
But, once school officially starts you'll need to make your way to the Library's Reference Desk and check yourself "in" for UNIV 106, aka "Library Skills". All you have to do is give us your name, we'll give you a quick orientation to the course (which is available at http://library.boisestate.edu/skills/) and off you go.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can chat with me via the Meebo widget to your right, e-mail me at memocordova[at]boisestate.edu, or give me a call at 426-1270. My office is in the Library (of course) in room L107D.
We'll be seeing you at the Library.

OMG! The Last Target Date is Tomorrow!
This Friday, December 7th, is the LAST Target Date! This means that, ideally, you should be finishing all your assignments--that's right, ALL of them. Have you started? Have you checked for corrections? Do you know if completed that last assignment? Time is winding down, people, so I encourage you to get going before the real time crunch begins.
As always, let me or anyone at the Reference Desk know if you have any questions.
Here's to a speedy end!

Target Date: October 19
The second target date is fast approaching: October 19! This means that, ideally, you should have completed assignments 7 thru 12. No worries if you're behind schedule, but you should really be thinking about finishing earlier assignments so you can catch up. Remember, target dates are just indicators to give you an idea of when you should have finished what assignments, as it can get hairy if you wait until the last minute to finish the course. Besides, you still have to check with the Reference desk for corrections so you will want to have enough time while we grade your papers.
And the cardinal rule? Ask, if you have questions!

Target Date
The first Target Date came and went. No need to panic yet, right? Right! Granted, you could actually finish the entire course in one day (provided you check for corrections), but the Target Dates are there to help you pace yourself so you can learn about the library withtout feeling rushed--you get enough of that, right?
If you have any questions or run into problems, by all means let me or anyone at the reference desk know.
Good luck!

Getcher Permission Numbers Here!
If you know someone who badly wants to take UNIV 106 (hey, it could happen) but they need to have a permission number, I have several hanging around my office. Let me know and I'll gladly give them one so they can join UNIV 106. Permission numbers expire September 10th.
Hope everyone is doing fine. If not, ask for help, will ya?
